Tonight’s NHL gambling bet of the night is the Vancouver Canucks to win on the road against the Florida Panthers.
It’s two bad teams. Which is why the Vancouver Canucks’ NHL gambling line tonight is set at +125. They are dogs simply because they’re on the road. But at +125 its a good return for a team that should win.
[+125] Record : 25-18-10, Road Record : 11-9-7, Form (Last 5) :
|VAN 6-2 LAK||VAN 0-4 BUF||VAN 4-3- COL||VAN 4-2 CHI||VAN 2-4 TBL|
[-145] Record : 30-19-5, Home Record : 14-8-2, Form (Last 5) :
|FLA 6-1 DAL||FLA 2-4 WAS||FLA 4-1 NYI||FLA 4-2 BUF||FLA 3-2 DET|
Look, both the Vancouver Canucks and the Florida Panthers are bad. Neither is in a playoff position. Florida is ten points out while the Canucks sit 13 points from the post-season.
While it’s not impossible for the Panthers to put a stretch of good resutls together, it’s unlikely.
Only the New York Islanders allow more shots against in the league. That wouldn’t be so bad if the Panthers had an NHL calibre goaltender in nets. But both Roberto Luongo and James Reimer are out with lower-body injuries. Which has left rookie Harri Sateri between the pipes. With a 3-3-0 record and 3.19 GAA and 0.908 SV% he’s been very OK.
To be fair it’s not like Jakob Markstrom has been much better for the Canucks. His 15-17-5 record with a 2.79GAA and 0.907SV% is only fractionally better than the rookies on the other side of the ice.
But again, the Canucks do a great job at limitting chances against. Only the Vegas Golden Knights allow fewer shots against than the Canucks.
The combination of fewer chances for and the greater shots against will be enough for Calder runner-up Brock Boeser and his team to run out of Florida with the two points.
Bet of The Night: Anaheim Ducks win on road vs. Toronto Maple Leafs @+145
