The first day of the 2017-18 NHL season closed with the NHL scores not giving us a winner to start things off. But there were plenty, well two, upsets for you NHL gamblers out there.
So day one of NHL regular season gambling didn’t go too well. Last nights NHL scores confirm that my predict was well off. I say NHL scores because lets face it, I’m in the East and I’m not staying up for a 10pm puck drop to get up at 6am the next day. No thanks.
But if you recall I said that Calgary could do the business against Edmonton at home. I knew full well that Jagr wasn’t going to be making his debut last night for Calgary. I just thought they had an OK team, one that could match up well against the Oilers. And then Conor McDavid proved why he’s about to earn $12.5m.
TOR (-110) 7 @ 2 (-110) WPG
STL (+165) 5 @ 4 (-190) PIT Best Return
CGY (+130) 0 @ 3 (-155) EDM Bet Of The Night
PHI (+130) 5 @ 3 SJS (-150)
What’s worse is that I thought St Louis would also lose, and the ****** won! They actually won against the Penguins. Ok. It was an overtime win, but they still won. And at +165 I wish I had trusted my initial instincts.
Bet Of The Night
And now we come to tonight. Forget about what took place last night. There are eight fresh games on the dock for tonight. Eight different opportunities to make some money.
NAS (EVEN) @ BOS (-120)
COL (+170) @ NYR (-200)
MTL (-130) @ BUF (+110)
MIN (-140) @ DET (+120)
WAS (-135) @ OTT (+115)
PIT (+115) @ CHI (-135)
PHI (+145) @ LAK (-165) Bet Of The Night
ARI (+145) @ ANA (-165)
I’m not sure if Colorado is as bad as they were last year. It’s not to say they’ll be good this year, but last year was so bad it’s going to be hard to replicate. But I’m still putting a bit of money on this game. I’m having a hard time passing on a +170 against the Rangers.
If you’ll recall I’m not sold on Henrik Lundqvist being a good goalie in the NHL anymore. And the Rangers have no good backup to call up. Talbot. Gone. Rantaa. Gone.
But Colorado isn’t my bet of the night. That’s just me speculating and playing the odds. Colorado HAS to win some games. My bet of the night is Philadelphia to take the win against the Kings. No one outside of my two counterparts have the Kings making the playoffs. They fancy the Sharks, and the Flyers dispatched them last night 5-3.
Brian Elliot seems to alright in Philly. Yeah, a .914SV% is still an ok return for Philadelphia goaltenders. And Wayne Simmonds was out of this world. Will he do so again tonight? Maybe not. But the Flyers won’t have to worry about anyone not named Jeff Carter as a goal threat. Making their job a bit easier. And at +145 I’d be remised if I didn’t bet this line.
